Summary

Listening length: 10 hours

When a star dies, a new one must be born。

The Sun God chooses the village of Endwever to provide a mortal womb。 The birthing of a star is always fatal for the mother, and Ceris Wenden, who considers herself an outsider, sacrifices herself to secure her family’s honor and take control of her legacy。 But after her star child is born, Ceris does what no other star mother has: she survives。 When Ceris returns to Endwever, however, it’s not nine months later—it’s seven hundred years later。 Inexplicably displaced in time, Ceris is determined to seek out her descendants。

Being a woman traveling alone brings its own challenges, until Ceris encounters a mysterious—and desperate—godling。 Ristriel is incorporeal, a fugitive, a trickster, and the only being who can guide Ceris safely to her destination。 Now, as Ceris traverses realms both mortal and beyond, her journey truly begins。

Together, pursued across the Earth and trespassing the heavens, Ceris and Ristriel are on a path to illuminate the mysteries that bind them and discover the secrets of the celestial world。

Look Skyward This is a delightful diversion for the mind。 The weaving of the storyline mixes a common reality with the uncommon understandings of celestial beings and Universal Laws。 With love as a guiding force throughout, it rides the waves of turmoil and triumph。

I was, am, and will continue to be in love with "Star Mother" by Charlie N。 Holmberg。 From the very first page I knew that Holmberg's new novel was something different, unique and wonderous, I just didn't know how much it would come to resonate within me。 I have craved a fantasy such as this, with celestial beings, immortal love and moral love, time slips, and undying passion that is all encompassing and forever written across the stars。 Thank you for putting this book out early on Amazon, I tru I was, am, and will continue to be in love with "Star Mother" by Charlie N。 Holmberg。 From the very first page I knew that Holmberg's new novel was something different, unique and wonderous, I just didn't know how much it would come to resonate within me。 I have craved a fantasy such as this, with celestial beings, immortal love and moral love, time slips, and undying passion that is all encompassing and forever written across the stars。 Thank you for putting this book out early on Amazon, I truly enjoyed this story and give it all the stars。 。。。more

In Star Mother, we follow Ceris, who has volunteered to birth a star for the Sun God。 She won’t be coming back after she gives birth, but it would be an honor for her and her village。 But when she wakes up after the birth of her star, she realizes she’s more special than she thought。 That’s because no one has survived giving birth to a star。 As she ventures back to earth, she realizes she’s been gone for over seven hundred years。 Her new world is fraught with war and change。 When she meets Ristr In Star Mother, we follow Ceris, who has volunteered to birth a star for the Sun God。 She won’t be coming back after she gives birth, but it would be an honor for her and her village。 But when she wakes up after the birth of her star, she realizes she’s more special than she thought。 That’s because no one has survived giving birth to a star。 As she ventures back to earth, she realizes she’s been gone for over seven hundred years。 Her new world is fraught with war and change。 When she meets Ristriel on her quest to find family, she accepts his help on the dangerous trek。I was so excited when I saw this as a Kindle First read as it had been in my wishlist since the moment I realized Charlie was releasing a new book。 With a bit of lore, and incorporation of certain gods, Charlie has given us a mythological fantasy in an imaginative world that is so in-depth, you can see what Ceris sees and feel what she feels。 A beautiful read to sit with, and I cannot recommend this enough。 。。。more

WonderfulSuch an unique original tale that I loved from beginning to end。 At many points I pondered whether I was team saiyon or team ris and I can't say I ever decided but I loved the conclusion。 A beautiful story and worthy read! Fantasy is not my typical genre。 This was a nice break。 Sun God, Moon Goddess, Mother Earth, demigods, celestial stars and Star Mothers。 Interesting premise that mortal women bear new stars to fill the heavens when old stars die。 Several especially sweet spots and numerous surprise turns of events。 Enjoyable read。

I loved this book! It's not often that a book moves me as this one did。 A strong female lead that captures your heart and admiration。 An ode to love and loss, power and surrender。 I couldn't put it down once I was pulled into world of gods and stars。 I highly recommend it those who like myth, or legend, or just a good love story。 I loved this book! It's not often that a book moves me as this one did。 A strong female lead that captures your heart and admiration。 An ode to love and loss, power and surrender。 I couldn't put it down once I was pulled into world of gods and stars。 I highly recommend it those who like myth, or legend, or just a good love story。 。。。more

I devoured this book。 It was unexpected, clever, and original。 I'm still reeling about the outcome。 I'm positive I felt every emotion Holmberg intended me to feel。 This author is magic。 I am floored by how far away this book took me。 Amazing amazing writing and storytelling。 How does she do this every single time???One warning I'll put out there is that while this book doesn't focus on sex, there is lots of inuendo surrounding certain plot points and there is one scene, albeit brief, that may a I devoured this book。 It was unexpected, clever, and original。 I'm still reeling about the outcome。 I'm positive I felt every emotion Holmberg intended me to feel。 This author is magic。 I am floored by how far away this book took me。 Amazing amazing writing and storytelling。 How does she do this every single time???One warning I'll put out there is that while this book doesn't focus on sex, there is lots of inuendo surrounding certain plot points and there is one scene, albeit brief, that may a bit much for younger readers。 。。。more

This book was a Kindle First Reads choice for October 2021。 I was hoping for more of a fantasy, but it is more of a romance than I like。 I think a lot of people will like it very much。

A beautiful sad joyful mythI enjoyed the story but admired it more than I loved it。 It reads like mythology with the emotional depths glossed over so little really touched me。 I doubt that I will read the sequel。

A work of artThis book is beautiful。 Charlie Holmberg is an artist。 Truly。 It is amazing how she is able to take words and ideas and manipulate them like a painter dabbing colors on a canvas to pull out a visual representation of a subject that is pleasing to both, the eye and the soul。 And, bless her, she added an epilogue to this one!

An Ethereal Read that Captivates ImaginationA human star mother with star children fostered by the sun, who goes on a quest, and finds that her child gives her purpose。 She befriends a demigod for protection, and through him learns to trust and love。 A story of imagination and searching that I found quite delightful。

Loved!Truly enjoyed this。 I found in parts that her writing style/storytelling brought to mind Patricia McKillip, who is one of my all time favorite authors。 Thank you for sharing this。 I know it “came from darkness”, and perhaps that is why it speaks to me, but it is beauty and I am grateful that I came across it。 I will be purchasing a hard copy for my shelves! (Read as a Prime First Reads)

BreathtakingMesmerising, beautiful, enchanting。 I was captivated by the imagery of this book。 Highly recommended。 Thank you to this brilliant author for the Starlight。

Easy Read。 Concept is unique。 Execution good。 Just missing a good reason。 True love and how it was developed was a bit disappointing。 The ending crammed 350 years in one chapter with explanation of oncoming grieve, anger, remove, and forgiveness was summed up as time。 Just missing the elements of how the main character worked her way thru these deep emotions

Barbara Shuman

DisappointedI chose this book for my first read。 That is the only reason Imade to the end of the book。 I love the genre of fantasy。 But this book fell short for me。I have the book 1star for the tapestry。 They are still used today。
